Started by drawing the upside down portrait first and didn't like how the face was turning out so flipped it upside down and added another self portrait from photo shoot. Wanted to create a mirror balance of color and b&w to create movement throughout the piece.
Used Photoshop to combine images to create a composition

Hour long drawing session. Started by shading background as a base then sighting the dimensions of the model using the head as a tool. Gesture like sketching when drawing the fabric so the viewer draws more attention to the model.
